It is used in people who need a high-fibre regime for the relief of constipation. Each sachet contains 3.5 g of ispaghula husk as orange flavoured granules that form a suspension when stirred into water.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFill a glass with about 240 ml of cold water, add the granules, stir well and drink immediately. Never take the granules dry: taking them without enough liquid can cause blockage of the throat, gullet or bowel, with choking. Adults and children over 12 years take one sachet morning and evening, preferably after meals; children aged 6 to 12 take a smaller dose as shown in the leaflet, and use in children under 6 is not recommended. The effect usually starts 12 to 24 hours later. Take it at least half an hour to one hour before or after other medicines and not immediately before going to bed.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eDo not use it if you have a bowel blockage, difficulty swallowing, a sudden change in bowel habit lasting more than two weeks, or undiagnosed rectal bleeding.
