OCTENISAN DECONTAMINATION WASH
Octenisan Antimicrobial Wash Lotion 500ml from Schülke is a mild wash lotion for the whole body and hair, made with octenidine. It is used for washing before surgery and in hospital, and it is gentle enough for everyday use on all skin types.
The formula combines octenidine with allantoin and moisturising agents, so it cleans without drying the skin out. According to the manufacturer, it reduces the colonisation of the skin with bacteria, including multi-drug-resistant organisms such as MRSA. It is suitable even for skin that is sensitive to soap or prone to allergies.
Apply the lotion undiluted directly onto wet skin, or onto a damp flannel, and wash the relevant areas of the body. Leave it on for one minute, then rinse off. It can be used to wash the hair in the same way. If your hospital has given you a pre-operative washing plan, follow those instructions.
For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. For a limited period it can also be used on children from 3 months for pre-operative whole-body washing.
