Microlax Individual Tubs 5ml

Microlax Micro-enema is a rectal solution of sodium citrate and sodium lauryl sulphoacetate, used to empty the large bowel in constipation.

• Active ingredients: sodium citrate 450mg and sodium lauryl sulphoacetate 45mg per 5ml
• Size: single 5ml micro-enema tube with nozzle, supplied with the patient information leaflet
• Used for: emptying the large bowel in constipation; it works by softening and lubricating the stools
• Suitable for: adults. For use in children, ask your doctor or pharmacist
• How to use: for rectal use only; do not swallow. Twist off the nozzle seal, squeeze out a drop to lubricate the tip, insert the nozzle fully into the rectum, squeeze out the whole contents and keep squeezing as you withdraw the nozzle; use the contents of one tube as necessary and do not use more than instructed; once opened, use immediately and discard any unused solution
• Do not use if: you have ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rash, swelling of the face and throat, difficulty breathing) to any of the ingredients
• Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first if: you have ulcers or inflammation of the large bowel or any other part of the intestine, or you take sodium polystyrene sulphonate (for high blood potassium)
• Duration: avoid prolonged use, as it may irritate the back passage; seek medical advice if symptoms persist, and contact a doctor if they get worse
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before use
• Contains: sorbic acid, which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis); other ingredients are sorbitol, glycerol and water
