Senokot 7.5mg Tablets are a senna laxative for the short-term relief of occasional constipation.

  • Active ingredient: senna pods standardised to 7.5mg total sennosides (calculated as sennoside B) per tablet
  • Pack: 100 tablets
  • Used for: short-term relief of occasional constipation
  • How to use: adults, including the elderly, and children aged 12 years and over swallow 2 to 4 tablets at night; do not exceed the stated dose; normally taking it two to three times a week is sufficient
  • Suitable for: adults and children aged 12 years and over; do not give to children under 12 years
  • Duration: use for more than 1 week requires medical supervision; tell a doctor or pharmacist if there is no bowel movement within 3 days of use, if symptoms worsen or persist, or if you need laxatives every day or abdominal pain persists
  • Do not take if you: are allergic to senna or any of the other ingredients; have a blockage or narrowing of the gut or bowel (ileus, intestinal obstruction or stenosis); have paralysis or a lack of muscle tone in the bowel (atony); have symptoms of appendicitis or inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis; have severe dehydration; have already taken a laxative and are still constipated; or are under 12 years of age
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first if you: have kidney disorders; have faecal impaction, rectal bleeding of unknown cause or blood in your stools; have had a sudden change in bowel habit lasting more than 2 weeks; have persistent or undiagnosed abdominal complaints such as pain, nausea or vomiting; or take medicines for the heart or heart rhythm, diuretics, corticosteroids or liquorice root preparations
  • Warnings: long-term use of laxatives should be avoided; laxatives do not help with long-term weight loss; changes in diet and bulk-forming medicines are recommended before using this medicine
  • Contains: lactose; if your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before use
