Senokot 7.5mg Tablets contain sennosides from senna pods and are a laxative used for the short-term relief of occasional constipation.

  • Active ingredient: total sennosides 7.5mg per tablet (from senna pods, calculated as sennoside B)
  • Pack: 20 tablets
  • How to use: adults, including the elderly, and children aged 12 years and over, swallow 2 to 4 tablets at night; normally taking it up to two to three times a week is enough; do not exceed the stated dose
  • Duration: use for more than 1 week requires medical supervision; tell a doctor, pharmacist or nurse if there is no bowel movement within 3 days of use, or if symptoms get worse or continue
  • Not for: children under 12 years
  • Do not take if you: are allergic to senna or any of the other ingredients; have a blockage or narrowing of the gut or bowel; have paralysis or a lack of muscle tone in the bowel (atony); have symptoms of appendicitis or inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis; have severe dehydration; have already taken a laxative and are still constipated; or are under 12 years of age
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse first if: you need senna every day or abdominal pain continues or gets worse; you have kidney disorders; you have faecal impaction, rectal bleeding of unknown cause or blood in your stools; you have had a sudden change in bowel habit lasting more than 2 weeks; or you have persistent or undiagnosed abdominal complaints such as pain, nausea or vomiting
  • Other medicines: talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you take medicines for a heart condition or heart rhythm problems (such as cardiac glycosides or quinidine), medicines that may change your heartbeat (QT prolongation), diuretics, corticosteroids or liquorice root preparations
  • Contains: lactose; if you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before use
