EXPUTEX SYRUP 300ML

Exputex 250mg/5ml Oral Solution contains carbocisteine, which liquefies thick, sticky mucus and helps clear phlegm.

• Active ingredient: carbocisteine 250mg per 5ml
• Size: 300ml bottle, supplied with a 2.5ml and 5ml measuring spoon
• Used for: liquefying thick (viscous) mucus to help clear phlegm
• How to use: by mouth only, with or without food; adults and children over 12 years: 15ml three times a day at first, reducing to 10ml three times a day when the mucus starts to go; children 6 to 12 years: 5ml two to three times a day; children 2 to 5 years: 2.5ml two to three times a day; do not take or give more than these amounts
• Children under 2: do not give to children under 2 years except on the instruction of your doctor
• Duration: if symptoms persist for more than a week, consult your doctor
• Do not take if you: are allergic to carbocisteine or any of the other ingredients; or have a stomach (peptic) ulcer
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises it
• Talk to your doctor first if you: have had a stomach ulcer in the past, or take any other medicines
• Contains: sodium (100mg per 15ml dose; take this into account if you are on a controlled sodium diet), a small amount of ethanol (less than 100mg per dose), sunset yellow (E110) and parahydroxybenzoates (E215, E217, E219), which may cause allergic reactions
• Allergic reaction: stop and get medical help straight away if you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or severe itching with a red rash or raised bumps
