Medicare

Everyday first aid, foot care and home health checks are all covered by Medicare, an Irish brand of pharmacy and healthcare products. The range at Leahy's includes fabric, waterproof, sensitive and blister plasters, tubular support bandages, kinesiology tape and arm slings, alongside LifeSense blood pressure monitors, a digital thermometer and weekly pill boxes. Travel items such as flight socks, ear plugs, motion sickness wrist bands and a travel first aid kit are here too.

Start with the job in hand. Waterproof plasters suit fingers and areas that get wet, sensitive plasters are a gentler choice for delicate skin, and blister plasters are shaped for heels and toes. For home blood pressure checks, the A1, A2 and A7 Plus monitors differ in features, so compare the details on each pack. Pill boxes come in AM/PM, push button and round seven day designs, and the pill splitter is for tablets your pharmacist confirms can be split.

Every Medicare product here is stocked at Leahy's Pharmacy, a family-run Irish pharmacy in Tralee, Co. Kerry. Our pharmacists can help you choose a support, set up a pill box routine or put together a home kit. To stock up for home, car or holidays, see our first aid range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Medicare blood pressure monitor should I choose? +
Three LifeSense models are stocked here: the A1, A2 and A7 Plus. They differ in features, so compare the details on each product page before you buy. Whichever you pick, the cuff needs to fit your arm for a reliable reading. If you have been asked to check your blood pressure at home, our pharmacist can show you how to take readings, and your GP can explain what they mean.
What is the difference between Medicare waterproof, fabric and sensitive plasters? +
Waterproof plasters are made to stay in place when they get wet, which suits hand washing and showering. Fabric plasters are flexible, so they move with knuckles and joints. Sensitive plasters are a gentler choice for delicate skin or for people who find standard adhesive uncomfortable. Blister and burn plasters are separate formats designed for those specific uses, so read the pack before applying.
Which tubular support bandage size do I need? +
Each letter matches a width: size B is 6.25cm, E is 8.75cm, F is 10cm and G is 12cm, all 1m long. Narrower widths are generally used on smaller joints and limbs, wider ones on larger areas. The bandage should feel supportive without being tight or leaving marks. If you are unsure of the size, or the injury is recent or painful, ask our pharmacist first.
Does Medicare make products for travel? +
Yes. The range includes flight socks in small and large, foam and silicone ear plugs, travel and motion sickness wrist bands, a 50% DEET insect repellent spray and a travel first aid kit. A foil rescue blanket and a single use CPR breathing barrier on a key ring are also stocked. Check the label of the insect repellent for age guidance before using it on children.
