Mouthwash

A good rinse rounds off brushing and leaves the mouth feeling fresh. This mouthwash range brings together daily rinses and more specialised options from Corsodyl, Kin, Listerine, Dentyl and Aloclair, including alcohol free mouthwash for anyone who prefers a gentler feel.

For everyday freshness, Corsodyl Daily in Cool Mint and Freshmint are alcohol free and made for regular use, as is Kin B5 Daily Mouthwash. Kin Gingival and Perio Kin are designed for gum care as part of a daily routine, while Dentyl Dual Action is a two-phase rinse that you shake before use. Corsodyl Mouthwash Aniseed is a licensed medicine rather than a daily rinse, so read the leaflet before use and follow the directions on the pack. Aloclair Plus is a rinse for mouth ulcers, and Listerine Smart Rinse Berry is made for children, so check the age on the pack. Mouthwash works alongside brushing and cleaning between the teeth, not in place of them.

Every product here is stocked at Leahy's Pharmacy, a family-run Irish pharmacy in Tralee, Co. Kerry, and our pharmacists can help you choose a rinse that suits your mouth. If your gums bleed often or feel sore, it is worth seeing your dentist. To complete your routine, see our toothpaste range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose an alcohol free mouthwash? +
Many people prefer alcohol free mouthwash because it can feel milder in the mouth, especially with daily use. Corsodyl Daily Cool Mint and Freshmint are both alcohol free. If your mouth feels dry or sensitive, an alcohol free rinse is often a comfortable choice. Check the label of any mouthwash for its ingredients, and ask our pharmacist if you are unsure.
What is the difference between Corsodyl Daily and Corsodyl Mouthwash Aniseed? +
Corsodyl Daily is an alcohol free mouthwash designed for everyday use as part of your oral care routine. Corsodyl Mouthwash Aniseed is a licensed medicine with its own directions and is not intended as a long-term daily rinse. Read the patient information leaflet before using it, and speak to our pharmacist or your dentist if you are not sure which suits you.
When should I use mouthwash? +
Many people rinse at a different time from brushing, for example after lunch, so the fluoride from toothpaste is not rinsed away straight after brushing. Directions vary between products, and some rinses, such as Dentyl Dual Action, need shaking first. Follow the instructions on the bottle for how much to use and how long to rinse, and do not swallow mouthwash.
Is there a mouthwash for children? +
Listerine Smart Rinse Berry is made for children and has a fruity flavour that younger users may find easier than mint. Check the age on the pack before use, and supervise children so the rinse is spat out rather than swallowed. Brushing twice a day with a children's toothpaste remains the main part of their routine. Our pharmacist or your dentist can advise.
