Nurofen 200mg Coated Tablets contain ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), for adults and children over 12 years.
- Active ingredient: ibuprofen 200mg per sugar-coated tablet
- Pack: 48 tablets
- Used for: headaches, dental pain, period pain, backache, muscular pain, the symptoms of osteoarthritis, cold and flu symptoms and fever
- How to use: adults and children over 12 years swallow 2 tablets with water, then if necessary 1 to 2 tablets every 4 hours; do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours; use the lowest dose for the shortest time needed; do not use in children under 12 years
- Duration: do not exceed 3 days of treatment; contact a doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3 days
- Do not take if you: are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the ingredients; have had shortness of breath, worsening asthma, an allergic rash, an itchy runny nose or swelling of the lips, face, tongue or throat after taking ibuprofen, codeine, aspirin or similar medicines; are already taking another NSAID; have ever had stomach bleeding or perforation after taking ibuprofen, aspirin or similar medicines; have (or have had two or more episodes of) a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding; have severe kidney or liver problems; have severe heart failure; are in the last 3 months of pregnancy; or are under 12 years of age
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: do not take in the last 3 months of pregnancy; do not take in the first 6 months of pregnancy unless absolutely necessary and advised by your doctor; for short-term use at the recommended dose it is not necessary to stop breastfeeding; this medicine may make it more difficult to become pregnant, which is reversible on stopping
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first if you: have an infection or chicken pox; have or have had asthma; have kidney or liver problems; have heart problems, or have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, poor circulation in the legs or feet, or a stroke or mini-stroke (TIA); have high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol, a family history of heart disease or stroke, or smoke; have stomach or bowel problems such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis; have lupus; have a head injury, unexplained bleeding or raised pressure in the head; are elderly; are receiving regular treatment from your doctor; are a teenager who is dehydrated; or take other medicines, including aspirin, blood thinners, corticosteroids, diuretics, blood pressure medicines, lithium, SSRIs, methotrexate or mifepristone (now or in the last 12 days)
- Warnings: may hide signs of infection such as fever and pain; there may be a small increased risk of heart attack or stroke, particularly at high doses; stop and seek medical help straight away if you notice signs of an allergic reaction, a serious skin reaction or stomach bleeding
- Contains: sodium (17.34mg per tablet) and sucrose; if your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before use
