Nurofen Express Maximum Strength 400mg Tablets contain ibuprofen (as sodium dihydrate), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), for adults and children over 12 years.
- Active ingredient: ibuprofen 400mg (as ibuprofen sodium dihydrate 512mg) per tablet
- Pack: 24 tablets
- Used for: relief of fever and mild to moderate pain such as headaches, period pain, dental pain, muscle pain and backache, and the symptoms of colds and flu
- How to use: adults and children over 12 years take only 1 tablet by mouth with a glass of water up to 3 times a day if required; leave at least 4 hours between doses; do not take more than 3 tablets in 24 hours; do not give to children under 12 years
- Duration: for short-term use only; if your symptoms do not improve within 3 days, or get worse, consult your doctor
- Do not take if you: are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients, or to aspirin or other painkillers; have or have ever had a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding in the stomach, or gastrointestinal bleeding linked to NSAID use; have severe liver or kidney problems; have severe heart failure; have had breathing difficulties, worsening asthma, a skin rash, an itchy runny nose or facial swelling after taking ibuprofen, aspirin or similar medicines; are taking other regular medication, other NSAIDs or painkillers; have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars (e.g. fructose); are pregnant or elderly; or are under 12 years of age
- Avoid taking with: corticosteroids, quinolone or aminoglycoside antibiotics, mifepristone, probenecid, diabetes tablets, heart glycosides, blood pressure medicines, diuretics, methotrexate, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, lithium, SSRIs or zidovudine, unless your doctor advises
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: do not take if you are pregnant, and never in the last 3 months of pregnancy; speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are breastfeeding; this medicine may make it more difficult to become pregnant, which is reversible on stopping
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first if you: have an infection or chicken pox; have or have had asthma; have high or low blood pressure, heart problems, or have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, poor circulation in the legs or feet, or a stroke or mini-stroke (TIA); have diabetes or high cholesterol, a family history of heart disease or stroke, or smoke; have kidney, liver or bowel problems such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease; have lupus; or have been told to limit sodium in your diet
- Warnings: may hide signs of infection such as fever and pain; there may be a small increased risk of heart attack or stroke, particularly at high doses; stop and seek medical help straight away if you notice signs of an allergic reaction, a serious skin reaction or stomach bleeding
- Contains: sodium (55.89mg per tablet; take this into account if you are on a sodium-controlled diet) and sucrose (186.2mg per tablet)
