Nurofen for Children Six Plus Strawberry 200mg/5ml Oral Suspension 200ml is a strawberry-flavoured oral suspension containing ibuprofen, used to reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain in children aged 6 to 12 years (20kg to 40kg).

  • Active ingredient: ibuprofen 200mg in each 5ml
  • Pack: 200ml oral suspension with a double-ended measuring spoon
  • Used for: reducing fever and relieving mild to moderate pain
  • How to use: shake the bottle well; children 6 to 9 years (20kg to 29kg) take 5ml and children 10 to 12 years (30kg to 40kg) take 7.5ml (5ml plus 2.5ml), 3 times in 24 hours, roughly every 6 to 8 hours; do not exceed the stated dose
  • Duration: for short-term use only; see a doctor if symptoms last more than 3 days or get worse
  • Do not give if: the child is under 6 years or under 20kg; is allergic to ibuprofen, other NSAIDs or any of the ingredients; has ever had shortness of breath, asthma, a runny nose, swelling or hives after aspirin or other NSAIDs; has had stomach bleeding or perforation after NSAIDs, or has or has had repeated stomach ulcers or bleeding; has severe liver, kidney or heart failure; has an inherited intolerance to fructose; has bleeding in the brain or any other active bleeding; has a blood clotting disorder or an unexplained blood-formation disorder; or is severely dehydrated (for example from vomiting, diarrhoea or not drinking enough). Do not give with other ibuprofen or NSAID painkillers. Do not take if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: do not take in the last 3 months of pregnancy; avoid in the first 6 months of pregnancy unless your doctor advises otherwise; if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist before use
  • Cautions: avoid use during chickenpox; check with your doctor or pharmacist first if your child has an infection, asthma or allergies, is allergic to aspirin, has kidney, liver or heart problems or high blood pressure, has ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or lupus (SLE), has just had major surgery, has a hereditary blood-formation disorder (such as porphyria), hay fever, nasal polyps or a chronic breathing disorder, or is dehydrated, or is taking other medicines, including other painkillers
  • Warning signs: stop giving and get medical help at once if your child has black tarry stools, vomits blood, has severe tummy pain, wheezing or difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, tongue or throat, or a widespread rash, blistering or peeling skin
  • Flavour: strawberry; contains maltitol, so check with your doctor first if your child has an intolerance to some sugars
  • Safety: Always read the label and the patient information leaflet before use.
