GAVISCON ADVANCE ANISEED FLAVOURED 300ML

Gaviscon Advance Oral Suspension (aniseed flavour) is a reflux suppressant containing sodium alginate and potassium hydrogen carbonate, used for the treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux such as acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion related to reflux, for example following meals or during pregnancy, or in reflux oesophagitis.

• Active ingredients: sodium alginate 500mg and potassium hydrogen carbonate 100mg per 5ml
• Size: 300ml bottle
• How it works: forms a protective layer that floats on top of the stomach contents and keeps them away from the lining of the food pipe
• How to use: shake well. Adults, the elderly and children 12 years and over: 5 to 10ml (one to two 5ml spoonfuls) after meals and at bedtime. Children under 12 years: only on medical advice
• Duration: for short-term treatment only unless advised by your healthcare professional. If you do not feel better, or feel worse, after 7 days, talk to your doctor
• Do not take if: you are allergic to any of the ingredients, including methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) parahydroxybenzoates
• Sodium, potassium and calcium: each 5ml contains 57.85mg sodium (2.9% of the recommended maximum daily intake for an adult), 39.06mg (1.0 mmol) potassium and 40mg calcium. If you have been advised to follow a diet restricted in any of these, consult your doctor before use
• Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first if you: need it daily or regularly for a prolonged period, especially on a low-salt diet; need four or more doses a day for a prolonged period; have reduced kidney function; or have or have had significant kidney or heart disease
• Other medicines: leave at least 2 hours between this medicine and tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates or estramustine
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It contains benzyl alcohol, so ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have liver or kidney disease
• Other ingredients: contains parahydroxybenzoates and benzyl alcohol (0.525mg per 5ml), which may cause allergic reactions; aniseed flavour derived from fennel. Does not contain sugar or gluten
