NiQuitin Clear Step 3 7mg 24 Hour Patches are a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) medicine used to help people stop smoking. Each clear, colourless patch slowly releases nicotine through the skin, which helps relieve some of the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and cravings smokers may get when they try to quit, and helps them resist the urge to smoke.

Step 3 (7 mg) is the lowest strength and the final step of the NiQuitin step-down programme. It is used for the last two weeks after Step 2 (14 mg), so the amount of nicotine the body receives is reduced gradually. A new patch is applied once a day to clean, dry, hairless skin and worn for up to 24 hours, using a different area of skin each time. If you still need patches after 9 months in total, ask a healthcare professional for advice.

The patches are not for non-smokers, occasional smokers or children under 12. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before use if you are in hospital after a heart attack, stroke or severe heart rhythm problems, or if you have diabetes, eczema or dermatitis, epilepsy, stomach or duodenal ulcers, serious liver or kidney problems or an overactive thyroid, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Your chances of quitting improve if you take part in a support programme; the National Smokers' Quitline is 1800 201 203 and our pharmacists at Leahy's Pharmacy are happy to advise.

Always read the label and the patient information leaflet before use.
